Green Cracker
Flour, Spinach, Egg, Butter, Olive oil, Cheese, Baking powder
Green crackers bake spinach into a cheesy, herby dough for crisp, vitamin-rich bites that little hands love to nibble. They're a fun, savoury snack for toddlers from around 12 months. Bake until firm and golden, then cool fully — offer thin, snappable pieces and supervise while your toddler eats.
Ingredients
- Flour150 g
- Butter or ghee40 g
- Olive oil1 tbsp
- Cheese50 g
- Spinach50 g
- Egg1 pc
- Baking powder1/2 tsp
Instructions
- 1
Mix the flour with the baking powder.
- 2
Let the butter soften slightly and rub it into the flour until crumbly.
- 3
Grate the cheese finely and mix it into the flour and butter.
- 4
Blend the egg and spinach in a blender.
- 5
Pour the egg and spinach mixture into the flour mixture and knead the dough quickly. If it is dry and crumbly, add 1–3 tbsp of milk/water little by little until the dough forms a ball.
- 6
Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes (this makes it easier to roll out).
- 7
Roll out the dough between two sheets of parchment paper to a thickness of 2–3 mm.
- 8
Cut out the crackers (using a knife or cookie cutters) and prick them with a fork (to prevent puffing).
- 9
Bake for 15-17 minutes at 180°C (356°F) until the edges are slightly golden. Let them cool completely: they become crunchier as they cool.
