Lentil Rings

Red lentils, egg, flour, lemon juice, oil, baking powder, salt, sesame seeds

Lentil rings turn protein-rich red lentils into crisp-soft baked bites with a sprinkle of sesame — a wholesome, plant-powered snack for toddlers from around 12 months. Lentils add fibre and gentle plant protein. Bake until set, then cool and serve in safe, easy-to-hold pieces.

Ingredients

  • Red lentils (dry)120 g
  • Wheat flour3 tbsp
  • Egg1 pc
  • Lemon juice1 tbsp
  • Ghee or olive oil1 tbsp
  • Baking powder1 tsp
  • Saltto taste
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

    Rinse the lentils and leave them in water overnight.

    In the morning, rinse them again, add all ingredients to a blender, and process until smooth.

    Using a piping bag, pipe the rings onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can also form them into sticks or round cookies using a regular spoon.

    Bake in an oven at 180°C (356°F) for 15 minutes. In an air fryer, bake for 10 minutes at 180°C.
